Gaming

 Young people

Gaming can be a fun way to learn useful skills and connect with others. Most adults and youth can use games in a healthy way without it leading to problems. But too much gaming or gaming when parents aren’t around can lead to harmful behaviours. Knowing what to watch for is an important way to keep gaming a safe activity.

“Social media, along with video games, are created and designed to attract and keep the attention of people. I don’t know how many times I have stayed up past one or two a.m. gaming or watching videos. It is often difficult to remember to stop and pull the plug. Technology has affected me in many different ways. It has connected me to the world, and to others around me, yet remains a challenge that I have to deal with every day”.

– Anonymous youth, age 16
