Female Urinary Incontinence Pathway

Talk with your healthcare provider about a referral

Depending on your symptoms, your history, and test results, your healthcare provider may refer you to a specialist, such as:

  • a urologist: specializes in diseases of the male and female urinary system
  • a gynecologist: specializes in the female reproductive system
  • a urogynecologist: specializes in treating pelvic floor conditions
  • a pelvic floor physiotherapist: specializes in the pelvic floor and offers pelvic floor training, bladder training, and biofeedback (You can refer yourself to a pelvic floor physiotherapist.)

Sometimes, your healthcare provider may refer you to a clinic that specializes in urinary incontinence.

Talk with your healthcare provider to know if a referral to a specialist is right for you.
