Delirium in ICU Patients

What are the signs of ICU delirium?

​​​If your loved one has ICU delirium, you may notice that they:

  • have trouble recognizing people they know
  • have trouble thinking clearly
  • have trouble paying attention
  • have trouble doing things that they could do before they were in the hospital
  • see or hear things that aren’t there
  • get very angry and upset, or seem very drowsy and quiet
  • have trouble understanding what is going on around them including where they are or what happened to them
  • are confused about where they are or what time it is
  • have a sudden change in mood or behavior
  • have a change in sleeping pattern
