Fear of Failure

I’m afraid I’m going to fail

Quitting is a process, not an event. Every small step you take to make a change moves you towards success! Every time you try, you’ll learn something new about yourself and what works for you. Use this new information in your plan to increase the chances of reaching your goal. Celebrate your big successes, no matter how little they may seem to others. Make a plan to reward yourself in a healthy way.

Slipping back to using tobacco can happen easily and undo your hard work and progress. Even if you make a slip, like buying a pack of cigarettes, you can still stop yourself from slipping even more. Remind yourself why you wanted to quit in the first place. Remind yourself why it’s important to quit now if you haven’t yet succeeded. There are many good reasons why it’s best for you and your family to quit or stay quit. Tell yourself “I don’t smoke anymore” even if you haven’t quite made it yet.

My Reasons to Change

Everyone has different reasons for wanting to make a change. What are yours? You may want to write down what your reasons for change are.

Keep this list handy to remind yourself of your reasons to become tobacco-free. Put it in your purse or on your fridge or bathroom mirror as a reminder. This may help you with your fear of failing.

What else can you think of that might work for you?

You may want to write down other ideas that you can think of that would work for you.
