Ambiguous Grief

Ambiguous grief is feeling grief for the loss of someone who is still alive. This is grief for the loss of someone as you once knew them.

Caregivers often feel this type of grief when they care for someone with dementia. Your feeling of loss may happen slowly and be hard to accept and deal with while your loved one is still alive. You may also find that you won’t get closure for your grief until your loved one dies.
