Bempedoic acid is used along with a proper diet and
other medications to help lower "bad" cholesterol (such as LDL) in the
blood. It is also used by people who have a high risk for serious heart and
blood vessel problems to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, death
from heart disease, and needing certain types of heart surgery. This
medication works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the
liver.
In addition to eating a proper diet (such as a
low-cholesterol/low-fat diet), other lifestyle changes that may help this
medication work better include exercising, losing weight if overweight, and
stopping smoking. Consult your doctor for more details.
