If your child is expected to go home the same day as their surgery, they will be on the Day Surgery Unit.
Your child will spend at least 1 hour on the Day Surgery unit after surgery but some children may need to stay longer. Your child will be able to leave the hospital once they can keep fluids down (don’t throw them up) and pain is controlled with oral medicines taken by mouth.
