Communication

Help your child learn to talk, listen, and understand language.

Overview

As your child grows and develops, they begin to learn and understand language. Talking and listening to your child helps them learn these skills.

Pediatric rehabilitation can help if your child is having challenges in these areas of development.

Areas under communication

Learn how to help your child use speech sounds, speak smoothly, and have a healthy voice. These skills will help them to understand and use language.

Remember to talk to your healthcare providers for any questions or concerns that you have.

Complex communication needs

Children with complex communication needs have difficulty talking or understanding language, or both. This can include children who have physical, sensory, or cognitive challenges.

Children with complex communication needs can use actions, facial expressions, sounds, picture books, and electronic systems to communicate.
