Getting help if you have thoughts of suicide

If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide, you may feel very lonely and overwhelmed. Know that help is available. Check out the following resources to find help that is right for you. If this is an emergency, call 911 right away. An emergency may be if you’re thinking of harming yourself or others right now and you’re afraid you won’t be able to stop yourself. You can also get help any time, day or night, from anywhere in Canada at 988 Suicide Crisis Helpline. Help is available in English and French.

Other places to get help can be found at helplines and distress lines.

After reaching out for help or when you begin to get help,​​ you might continue to have ups and downs. It’s important to care for yourself and take time to learn and use healthy coping strategies. Learn to recognize when you’re not feeling yourself.

Health includes physical, mental, and emotional pieces. Growth in any of these areas can improve your well-being. ​
