Uses

This medication is used to treat skin infections. It is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria.

How To Use

If you are using this medication on the skin, clean and dry the affected area as directed. Then apply a thin film of medication to the affected area as directed by your doctor, usually 3 to 4 times a day. Cover with a bandage if your doctor directs you to do so.

Do not use large amounts of this medication, apply it more often, or use it for longer than directed. Your condition will not clear faster, but the chance for side effects may be increased.

Avoid using this medication in or around your eyes, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. Continue to use this medication for the full time prescribed, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.

Tell your doctor if your condition lasts or gets worse.

Side Effects

Mild irritation, burning, redness, or pain may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a new infection (such as a fungal infection). Contact your doctor if you notice signs of a new infection.
