What foods are low in sodium?

The foods you eat contain nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals. Sodium is a nutrient. Your body needs the right amount to stay healthy and work as it should. You can use the list below to help you make choices about which foods to eat.

Vegetables and Fruits

  • Fresh, frozen, or canned vegetables
  • Fresh, frozen, canned, or dried fruit

Grain Foods

  • Bagels
  • Cereal
  • Corn tortillas
  • Crackers, unsalted
  • Oatmeal, cooked
  • Popcorn, unsalted
  • Pasta and noodles, cooked
  • Rice, cooked
  • Pretzels, unsalted

Protein Foods

  • Milk
  • Soy beverage
  • Beans and peas, canned with no added salt
  • Eggs
  • Fresh meat, poultry, or fish (not smoked or cured)

  • Canned fish, with no added salt
