Musculoskeletal pain affects the muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, or tendons. It can be caused by injury, overuse, poor posture, or other conditions like arthritis. The pain might stay in one area or spread, and it can make moving or doing daily tasks harder. Treatment often includes rest, physical therapy, exercise, and ways to help manage the pain.
Nerve pain, or neuropathic pain, is caused by damage or irritation to the nerves. It may feel like burning, tingling, shooting, or electric shock–like sensations. It can happen because of conditions like diabetes, injury, shingles, or nerve compression. Treatment may include medicine, nerve blocks, or therapies that work to calm nerve activity.
