Peer support

Peer support connects you with others who understand, helping you feel less alone in managing pain.

Overview

Peer support can be an important part of managing chronic pain. Connecting with others who have similar experiences can give you understanding, encouragement, and practical tips that you might not get from your healthcare team alone.

Learning from others can offer new ideas, motivation, and hope for handling the physical and emotional challenges of living with pain. It can build resilience and give you confidence to take an active role in managing your pain. Sharing stories, coping tips, and challenged in a supportive group can help you feel less alone.

Social media support groups

Social media can help you connect with other people also living with pain. Some people find it easier to share their thoughts and feelings online than in person.

Some support groups organize themselves on social media. You can look for groups, stories or posts related to chronic pain or specific pain conditions by searching within the social media tool.

Our work takes place on historical and contemporary Indigenous lands, including the territories of Treaty 6, Treaty 7 & Treaty 8 and the homeland of the Métis Nation of Alberta and 8 Métis Settlements. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous communities that have been forged in urban centres across Alberta.
